Jason Steinbach, Founder and Fractional CMO
Business development, marketing, RevOps, and digital growth leadership shaped by more than 23 years of building companies, navigating disruption, and helping organizations turn unrealized potential into scalable growth.

Jason Steinbach is the founder of Virbion and a fractional CMO specializing in business development, go-to-market strategy, revenue operations, digital transformation, ecommerce, analytics, and AI-enabled growth.
His approach is shaped by more than two decades of firsthand business ownership. Jason has built companies, developed national markets, managed complex marketing and technology systems, navigated economic disruption, and helped regional organizations expand into national and international marketplaces.
Today, he works primarily with founder-led B2B service companies and ecommerce businesses that have meaningful market potential but need stronger leadership, clearer reporting, connected systems, and hands-on execution to realize it.
Business Leadership Shaped by Building, Loss, and Reinvention
Jason’s approach to business was not developed solely through consulting, marketing campaigns, or software certifications. It was formed through the experience of building a national company from the ground up and then losing it during one of the most severe financial disruptions in modern history.
That experience gave him a practical understanding of business development, market expansion, hiring, leadership, cash flow, partnerships, technology, customer acquisition, operational risk, and the importance of building companies that can adapt when circumstances change.
Losing a company did not erase the knowledge required to build one. It clarified which foundations matter most.
Pioneering a National Mortgage Company for the Deaf Community
In 2003, Jason founded DeafMortgage.net, a national company created to provide home-finance education and mortgage origination services specifically for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
As founder and president, Jason bootstrapped the company and personally oversaw nearly every area of its development and operation.
- Built a cutting-edge website and national digital presence
- Developed educational resources about home financing
- Created a mortgage service model designed around the needs of Deaf borrowers
- Recruited, hired, and trained a six-person team
- Employed three Deaf staff members as part of the company’s service model
- Pioneered the use of Deaf loan officers serving Deaf homebuyers
- Managed marketing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and business operations
- Developed partnerships with Deaf organizations and community events
- Represented the company through conferences and trade shows
- Expanded mortgage education and origination services throughout the United States
The company’s model addressed more than a communication gap. DeafMortgage.net gave Deaf consumers access to home-finance education and mortgage professionals who understood their language, community, and customer experience.
Partnerships with organizations and events serving the Deaf community, including Deaf Expo, helped the company build awareness and trust nationally.
Before the 2008 housing collapse, Jason entered acquisition discussions with one of the largest mortgage lenders in the United States.
The 2008 Financial Crisis
The housing crash fundamentally changed the mortgage market and the programs on which many DeafMortgage.net customers relied.
Federal policy changes permanently eliminated the seller-funded down-payment assistance programs that had helped qualified borrowers obtain FHA mortgages without having already accumulated the full down payment independently.
The removal of those programs, combined with the broader collapse of the mortgage market, eliminated a critical path to homeownership for many of the borrowers DeafMortgage.net served. The company ultimately closed in 2009.
The experience became the foundation for Jason’s understanding that business growth must be supported by resilience, diversified acquisition, adaptable systems, reliable financial visibility, and a purpose that remains intact even when market conditions do not.
Lessons That Shaped Virbion
Leadership Begins With Service
Jason believes leaders are called to serve people. That responsibility does not disappear during difficult circumstances. It becomes even more important.
Strong Leaders Raise Up Other Leaders
Organizations become stronger when knowledge, authority, and opportunity are shared. Jason prioritizes developing people, delegating responsibility, and creating environments where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and win.
Purpose Must Be Grounded Beyond Circumstances
Markets can collapse. Regulations can change. Technology can disrupt established business models. Circumstances outside a leader’s control can alter a company’s direction almost overnight.
Jason’s Christian faith anchors his belief that every person was created intentionally and for a good purpose. That purpose provides a stable foundation when circumstances are uncertain.
Founding Virbion
Jason established Virbion in 2013 to help business owners build stronger foundations for growth—foundations capable of scaling, adapting, and weathering turbulent markets.
The name Virbion reflects that mission.
Victory In Re-Birth, Inspiring Others Now
The name represents the belief that loss can lead to renewed purpose, deeper knowledge, and meaningful action that helps others move forward.
The name is also a play on words.
“Virb” evokes a verb: action, movement, execution, and progress.
“Ion” reflects the scientific principle that losing electrons can create a positive charge. It represents the possibility that something valuable can be gained through loss.
Together, the name communicates Jason’s belief that difficult experiences can become the foundation for renewed action, stronger leadership, and positive impact.

Virbion began helping clients connect marketing activity with CRM, sales processes, customer engagement, automation, ecommerce, reporting, and operational systems.

- SEO and AI discoverability
- CRM implementation and optimization
- Revenue operations and workflow development

- Analytics, reporting, and executive dashboards
- Ecommerce strategy and development
- AI-agent strategy and implementation

Jason has worked extensively with B2B service companies, financial services organizations, manufacturers, technology providers, and online retailers.
From Marketing Activity to Connected Revenue Systems
Jason believes traditional marketing models have relied too heavily on paid campaigns while customer-acquisition costs have continued to rise.
Paid media can remain valuable, but it should not be the foundation of the entire growth strategy. Buyers increasingly begin their research through search engines, AI platforms, industry content, peer recommendations, and executive networks before they ever complete a form or speak with sales.
Companies must now be discoverable and credible during the earliest stages of that research process.
Jason helps leadership teams connect:
- Market positioning
- Brand and messaging
- Website conversion
- SEO and AI visibility
- Thought leadership
- CRM and sales processes
- Marketing automation
- Revenue attribution
- Executive reporting
- AI-enabled operational efficiency
The objective is not to create more disconnected activity. It is to build a coordinated system that turns strategy into measurable execution.

Selected Business Impact
Building a Multimillion-Dollar Online Retailer
Virbion helped build US Discount Office Furniture from the ground up as an online business.
The company achieved double-digit month-over-month traffic growth for 18 consecutive months without advertising spend, expanded throughout the United States and Canada, and grew from zero into a multimillion-dollar ecommerce operation.
Virbion developed the brand, website, ecommerce infrastructure, marketing systems, CRM connections, integrations, automation, reporting, and customer-acquisition strategy.
Developing a CRM Database of Nearly 20,000 Leads
For The Credit Department, Inc., Jason led work across branding, website development, CRM integration, segmentation, automation, campaigns, analytics, and executive thought leadership.
Virbion helped develop and onboard a CRM database containing nearly 20,000 leads while building the connected marketing and revenue infrastructure used to engage finance executives.
Increasing Sales-Qualified Leads by Nearly 300%
Virbion helped Sterling Plastics improve its digital presence, content strategy, search visibility, lead-generation infrastructure, and market positioning.
The engagement contributed to a nearly 300% increase in sales-qualified leads.
Establishing a National Leader in Bank Credit Training
Virbion helped SRM Risk Management progress from generating no online leads to establishing a national presence in bank credit training.
The work included brand positioning, website strategy, conversion development, service architecture, content, search visibility, analytics, and lead-generation systems.
Helping Clients Navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic
None of Virbion’s active clients closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clients adapted by strengthening their digital visibility, communication, ecommerce capabilities, lead-generation systems, customer management, and operational processes.
A Collaborative, Accountable Leadership Style
Jason is a highly collaborative and engaged leader who treats client companies with the same care and accountability he would bring to his own business.
Many Virbion client relationships have continued for years because Jason remains involved beyond the initial strategy. He helps oversee implementation, coordinate internal and external contributors, monitor scope and timelines, and ensure that leadership receives reporting capable of guiding action.
Even when execution is outsourced, Jason remains closely involved to protect strategic alignment, quality, timing, and business value.
Strategy creates direction. Leadership, execution, and accountability create progress.
Who Jason Works Best With
Jason is best suited to founder-led companies that have demonstrated marketplace potential and are ready to build more sophisticated growth and operational systems.
The strongest engagements are typically with B2B service companies and ecommerce organizations that:
- Have established products, services, or customer traction
- Need senior marketing leadership without hiring a full-time CMO
- Want marketing connected to CRM, sales, and revenue operations
- Recognize the role of AI in research, visibility, automation, and execution
- Need clearer reporting and better decision support
- Have market potential that is not yet being fully realized
- Are prepared to implement, measure, and refine a growth strategy
Companies that have not yet established product-market fit or meaningful market traction may need foundational validation before a fractional CMO engagement can produce its greatest value.
AI as a Force Multiplier
Jason believes today’s CMO must understand how to use AI agents and connected business systems to increase the capacity of marketing and operational teams.
AI should not be implemented as an isolated novelty. It should improve research, customer understanding, content development, lead triage, reporting, workflow execution, and decision-making while preserving appropriate human judgment and oversight.
For founder-led businesses, the right AI and automation architecture can allow a small team to operate with the reach, responsiveness, and intelligence of a much larger organization.
Music, Creativity, and the Cadence of Marketing
Jason studied music at North Central University. That education provided a foundation for understanding structure, rhythm, timing, repetition, tension, resolution, and emotional connection.
Those principles continue to influence how he approaches marketing.
A strong brand has cadence. A customer journey has movement. A campaign requires timing. Effective communication must create attention, build expectation, and lead people toward meaningful action.
Outside of his CMO work, Jason is the founder of Anthem Eterna, a music project created to deliver hope in a world increasingly defined by friction and division.
Music helps anchor people to their humanity, communicate across differences, and raise their eyes toward the possibility of a better tomorrow.
Faith, Family, and Purpose
Jason’s Christian faith is central to his life, leadership, and understanding of Virbion’s purpose.
He believes every person was made intentionally and for a good purpose. His mission is to help people recognize that purpose, create a path toward achieving it, and inspire them to use their success to bless others.
Jason and his wife have been married for 19 years. They have two sons and a dog.
His parents are both Deaf. When Jason and his brothers were young, their parents purchased a piano for them even though they could not hear their sons play it.
That decision became a lasting example of faith, sacrifice, and investing in someone else’s potential without knowing whether you will ever personally experience the result.
The faith Jason’s parents demonstrated inspired him to help others build, grow, and pursue their purpose—even when he may not personally see every future result of that investment.
Leadership Philosophy
Every person was made on purpose for a good purpose.
Jason’s mission is to help people see that purpose, create a practical path toward it, and inspire them to use what they build to serve others.
That philosophy shapes the way he approaches business strategy, client relationships, leadership development, creative work, and long-term growth.
